chad about you

Utah photographer Brent Benson has spent more than ten years shooting photos of Chad’s Gap. Then I spent two hours writing captions.

Ten years and two hours later, voila: A beautiful Chad’s Gap Retrospective on ESPN Freeskiing.

Check it out, why don’t you?

napa bombs in the news

It’s delicious, it’s capricious, and the Napa Bomb is taking the world by storm, if that’s a surprise to anybody.

Reports on ShayWill.com indicate that word of the Napa Bomb has traveled all the way to Boulder, CO.

this little piggy

The Western Idaho recently came through Boise, ID, which also happens to be the site of my summer home on Petersen Ranch. I watched a little kid run off of the swings ride and puke into a garbage can. I couldn’t get my camera out in time so you’ll have to take my word for it.

I did get my camera out in time for the World’s Largest Hog. This mountain of furry, pink flesh tips the scales at over 1,300 pounds and has testicles nearly the size of indoor soccer balls.

You can see one of them near the right edge of the photograph below. There was also the World’s Smallest Horse. I didn’t take a picture because I’ve seen smaller animals. World's Largest PigThe World’s Largest Hog.

life of symms

After a couple years of writing (ostensibly) about skiing on the Internet, I’ve graduated to writing about skiing in print. I’m very proud of, and excited about, and prepositional phrase my new monthly column in Powder titled “Life Of Symms.”
Life Of Symms
Check out my new “Life Of Symms” column in Powder! Or avoid paying and paper cuts altogether by reading it on Newschoolers.com.

To properly commemorate my graduation from fiber optic tubes to mailboxes (and to offset my often offputting well intentioned meanspiritedness), the topic of my first installment is something along the lines of how ski videos are graduating from print to the Internet. Like exactly the opposite of the graduation that I just made from screen to paper. Here’s a yin-yang analogy to illustrate it further.

Sorry. I ran out of time.

Read all 437 words of the column on Newschoolers.com. A free sticker pack goes out to the 17th person to post “First!” in the comments section.
